MRSA Infection Control

Every year at least 300,000 NHS patients develop healthcare associated infections. Reducing HCAI and improving cleanliness across all healthcare settings is the responsibility of everyone.

With good practice and careful hygiene estimates state that around 15-30% of HCAI could be avoided.

Healthcare Acquired Infection has attracted lots of media attention in the UK to date. People in the community expect substantially improved hand hygiene practices among health professionals.

As the Norovirus and C.Diff courses are 1.5 hours each, we'd encourage you to have at least two of the courses in an afternoon or morning session.

The courses below can be combined with the Management, Prevention & Control of MRSA on the same day to maximise value for money.

Course Title: Management, Prevention & Control of MRSA

Who can attend this course?

NHS Nursing and healthcare assistants Nursing Managers; Care Home Managers, Nurses and Carers working in Care Homes; Domiciliary Workers; Staff working in GP and Dentists; Domestics & Domestic Supervisors.

Training manuals and a certificate of attendance are provided to all course attendees.

Course Aim:

To gain knowledge of MRSA and develop understanding of infection control measures to manage, prevent and control its spread.

Objectives:

By the end of the session delegates will be able to:

  • Understand the meaning of MRSA, its development and modes of transmission.

  • Identify patients at risk and develop measures to protect them.

  • Different screening criteria for MRSA.

  • Demonstrate how to swab for MRSA and interpret the laboratory results.

  • Demonstrate management of MRSA patients.

  • Demonstrate effective infection control measures to prevent and control MRSA.

Course Length: 1.5hr
