RSI Causes

RSI - Causes
- In an office environment ULD's occur in tasks that require repetitive finger, hand or arm movements such
as typing or using a mouse.
- Constant vibration and/or tension can cause the tendons surrounding the
Median nerve to be fatigued, causing swelling. This in turn pinches and
compresses the nerve causing pain.
- Without relief the nerve can be permanently damaged.
- According to the HSE the main risk factors are: frequent or forceful or
awkward gripping, squeezing, twisting, reaching; rapid, awkward or frequent
movement; awkward or static postures; poor environmental conditions; and
work for long periods with out breaks or changes of activity.
- In the office common risk factors include: constant computer use; poor
workstation configuration; inappropriate chair; unsatisfactory working technique;
and poor posture.
