This outstanding Competent Person Training course has been designed to allow employers in office-based environments to meet legal requirements. The course also includes Regulatory Reform Fire Safety Order 2005.

The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 detail what employers must do in order to manage health and safety under the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974. The law states that an adequate number of ‘competent persons’ need to be appointed in order to provide assistance in all health and safety matters. Our course covers all the elements of health and safety that are common in an office-based workplace.

Competent Person Course Overview

 

A competent person is someone who has the skills and the knowledge to manage health and safety and ensure compliance. To meet legal obligations (The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations, Regulation 7), any company with more than 5 employees is required to appoint one or more competent person(s) in health and safety.

Competent Person Course Aims


To help employers to comply with the Regulation 7 of The Management Of Health & Safety At Work by enabling your company to have a Competent Person on the team.

To provide a basic knowledge, understanding and guidance to operate as a ‘Competent Person’ within the company. This will enable candidates to identify and deal with basic Health & Safety issues in the workplace.

In addition, the course provides the skills to underpin their ability to safely assist during any fire emergency by implementing the workplace emergency plan.

  • The Health & Safety At Work Act pertaining to the role and responsibility of the Competent Person.
  • Appointing Responsible Persons (Fire Wardens, Evacuation  Coordinator, First Aiders  etc).

  • Regulatory Reform Fire Safety Order 2005, Fire Safety and emergency procedures.
  • Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH).
  • How to complete a basic risk assessment.
