DSE Assessment

Our DSE Workstation Assessments:

These take between twenty and thirty minutes per person. The assessor will make recommendations whilst with the employee, as well as suggest items that may improve that persons ergonomic situation resulting in better productivity.

Our assessor can carry out between twelve and fourteen assessments per day.



A typical DSE assessment will address the following items:

  • Briefly explain the assessment procedure and if user has any work related ailment.
  • Posture: Addressing the employees posture and ergonomic habits and advise on any change required to improve comfort levels.
  • Chair: Assessing and assisting user with chair adjustment and its best postural use.
  • Display Screen: Checking at correct height, free of flicker, and employee aware of brightness contrast buttons etc.
  • Keyboard/Mouse: Addressing good keyboard/mouse use and suggesting new methods or hardware if there is an ailment.
  • Desk height space and desk management is assessed and advice offered.
  • Eyesight assessment: explain eye sight policy/regulations, assess if user can see screen text clearly and read keyboard clearly.
  • Environment: Lighting, Ventilation, Cabling, Glare and clear access to workstation.
  • Laptop use and discussion on using correct accessories
  • Assessor invites employee to sign the four page report

  • Maternity DSE Assessments:

    • These take about forty five minutes per person and include a report with recommendations on what should be done over the two trimester periods whilst at work.

  • Advanced DSE Assessments:

    • These are one to one sessions and take between forty five minutes to an hour with the employee.
    • Mainly for those with musculoskeletal injuries such as back pain, neck pain or a Work Related Upper Limb Disorder WRULD.
    • The consultant will address both the employees ailment and posture.
    • Ergonomic items and assistive technology may be recommended to help increase that persons comfort levels at work.

  • DSE Workshop talks

    • These 30 to 45 minute workshops are delivered by an experienced DSE Risk Assessors.
    • They highlight and discuss good ergonomics at your workstation to increase comfort and productivity at work.
    • This can also include 'Chair Adjustment' demonstrations and ergonomics Q&A sessions.

  • Assistive Technology Workstation Assessments:

    • These are for workers with varying disability levels.
    • We match the persons disability to the best assistive technology. Each evaluation is based on the individual's needs which may include augmentative communication, mobility, environmental control or computer access.

  • Home Worker DSE Assessments:

    • These can be simple home workstation assessments or more complex depending on the employee's circumstances and or ailment.
    • Our assessors will visit your employees home to carry out a thorough DSE Risk Assessment, which will include recommendations to ensure a safe and comfortable work environment at home.
