DSE Training Course Overview

This information-packed course is designed to provide you with all the skills and knowledge you need to carry out DSE assessments with confidence and competence.

Our course concentrates on the practical aspects of being a DSE assessor and includes guidance on carrying out your assessments virtually using Zoom or any other audio visual methods. We also look at the additona challenges faced by people currently working from home.

Face to face training sessions use a mock-up workstation to give you the opportunity to practice carrying out a ‘real-life’ assessment. For virtual sessions, we use real life case studies including, if you like, your own workstations to discuss and practise your assessing skills.

On completion of the training, all delegates will receive a Worksafe UK Certificate of Attendance, CPD certification and CPD points, a DSE assessor manual and DSE documents. Furthermore, you will have unlimited access to our assessor helpline should any advice or guidance be needed at any time after the course.

Expected Outcomes

  • To understand current UK DSE regulations and how they apply to you.
  • To understand how injuries occur and how you can prevent them.
  • To be able to carry out effective DSE assessments in accordance with HSE guidelines.
  • To be able to carry out a DSE assessment for an expectant mother.
  • To understand the additional considerations for mobile workers and for home workers, including those working in challenging situations.
  • To know processes and procedures which enable you to carry out effective assessments virtually/remotely.
  • To know when further intervention is necessary.

Benefits To You

  • Our course is CPD certified and accredited by CIEHF.  This means you can be assured it reaches professional standards of excellence.
  • Ensure you comply with your legal obligations for your DSE users including those working from home.
  • Learning how to carry out your own DSE assessments saves you the cost of employing external assessors.
  • A DSE assessment helps reduce work-related disorders thus reducing the likelihood of staff sickness and absenteeism.
  • Our guidelines for virtual assessments and for assessing home workers enable you to assess all of your staff including those currently working away from the office.

Who Should Attend?

The target audience for our DSE training course includes Facilities Managers, Health and Safety Managers, Supervisors, Human Resources Managers, Occupational Health Therapists and any personnel selected to carry out DSE workstation risk assessments on fellow employees.
